Bell Buckle, TN is known for its small-town charm and the Southern Charm boutique and tea room is one of the standout places in the quirky town. The boutique took their charm up a notch by hosting a Woodland Fairy Tea Party on Saturday, June 8th.
Located smack-dab in the middle of Bell Buckle, the Southern Charm sits within its own large building across from the well-known shopping strip just over the train tracks. Upon entrance, you are immediately welcomed by bright, smiling faces. The front of the building is the boutique which has racks upon racks of trendy clothes, unique jewelry and accessories. It doesn’t stop there. As you go further into the building you find their home décor section which has everything from hand towels and plates to jars of homemade jams and jellies. Lastly, in the very back, is the tea room where you can come in any day of the week and order off their regular tea menu.
Co-owner Bethany Linscheid is the brains behind this creative and fun activity that all ages and genders were welcome to attend. “We had done a princess tea in March and decided to do these themed teas throughout the year; so, we thought summer, fairies, forest,” Linscheid explained about the thought process behind this event and its theme.

The tables were decorated with earthy-colored tablecloths and glittery overlays, mismatched teacups and teapots, greenery, tealights, and handmade fairy houses created and donated by one of the local ladies. The decorations didn’t just stop at the tables though. The doorway was adorned with flowers and greenery, multicolored fabric garland and flowers hung from the ceilings, and the staff decked in their best flower crowns and fairy wings.
Head chef Arin Paine and her right-hand Margot Riser created the unique menu options designed specifically for this tea. While you could still order off their regular menu, the fun and inventive fairy-themed options were too good to pass up. “Little shaped sandwiches, merengue toadstools, and chocolate tree bark,” are just a few of the newly added options according to Linscheid with the addition of a specially brewed tea for the day, appropriately named “fairy tea” for guests to enjoy with their meals.

With the success of the princess tea party that was held in March, Southern Charm intends to keep the ball rolling with more themed teas throughout the year with an Alice in Wonderland/Mad Hatter theme in mind next. Linscheid wants “to make a community like a place where it’s not just a shop or a place to go eat, you actually feel like you’re a part of it and [we] want to create activities that people can get out and meet who lives around them.”
